• Breaking Up the Ink Pigments. The tattoo is treated with a highly concentrated pulse of energy, designed to target the pigments in the ink without damaging the surrounding skin. The laser energy breaks down the ink into smaller fragments,  which the body’s immune system gradually flushes away.

• Multiple Sessions. Multiple treatment sessions are usually required to achieve the desired results. The number of sessions depends on the type of ink, the age, color and location of the tattoo, and the patient’s skin type and overall health condition.

• Removal or Fading. Most tattoos can be completely removed, but some tattoos will only fade significantly. Tattoos that are deeper, over scars or stretch marks, or in areas with less circulation are harder to remove.
